The Facade Vs. The Reality

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...for every truth there is a lie which exists in the shadows. Mobutu Sese Seko's regime began in a time of great turmoil for the then Congolese people, so he had to perpetuate an air of solidity as well as one of hope. Therefore, he had to make a series of lies and promises to gain the support of the Congo until his reign was consolidated.

Once his power was concrete, propaganda and lies to promote his regime were no longer needed. However, Mobutu still needed to establish a few very important falsehoods in order to keep the support (diplomatic as well as monetary) of his foreign allies. Such countries as the United States, France and Belgium would have discontinued their allegiance to Mobutu and his country had his human rights violations and desparate economic affairs been realized.

And so, Mobutu's regime became a web of corruption and lies. To see the lies and propaganda that surrounded this country's affairs, click on the picture of me, Redshoes, voting. To see the truth behind each one of the lies, click on the picture of me in jail. I reccommend going to the "facade" page first and then seeing the real deal behind the lies in the "reality" page second. Well, get going!
